Black and white portrait of Valentyna Prytula

Valentyna Prytula was born in Ukraine in 1998 and received her education in ceramics at the National Technical University of Ukraine. Since 2024, she has been pursuing a Master’s degree at the Institute for Artistic Ceramics and Glass in Germany. Her practice is shaped at the intersection of biographical experience and external conditions that initiate processes of inner transformation. Working with personal experiences, vulnerable states, and moments of change, the artist constructs a poetic artistic statement. While ceramics has long served as her primary medium, in recent years her practice has expanded beyond a single material, incorporating various techniques and media as a way of rethinking form, fragility, and presence.

Liminality

Liminality explores the fragile state of being in-between – between loss and renewal, uncertainty and acceptance, the past and an unknown future. Through personal experiences of displacement, waiting, walking and encounters with nature, the project reflects on the slow process of transformation and the possibility of finding hope in unexpected places.

Lost and found

She wanted so much to be found —
for someone to touch her silence.
But when it finally happened —
her body was already in chains,
and her voice was silent
